Winter hike last weekend

Joseph Ong, of Denver, froze to death after becoming separated from his hiking partner.

Ong spent the night in freezing temperatures in Clear Creek County.

Authorities were notified he was missing at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and searchers looked for him until 5 p.m. before resuming Sunday morning. Ong was found alive at 11:45 a.m. by search crews. The sheriff’s office said he later died from exposure.
